The Book of Dreams

THE BOOK OF DREAMS

The comet Kohoutek writes
a warning on the wall of sky.

O, my Kamala,
shall we feast with Belshazzar
to the end of days?

Shall I kneel to you to tunes
of the sackbut and psaltery?

O, beware the fiery furnace,
for I am Daniel
come to tell your visions.

I will not bow but to the East.
In the Book of Dreams
do I sleep
and read:
MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN!

Will you heed
the beast upon the beach of Babylon,

Eat the stolen fruits,
dare to walk into
the den of beasts,
O, my beloved?
